Nutrition and Sleep Guide to Accelerate Healing After Barbie Nose Aesthetics
Your Barbie nose surgery has been completed successfully, that curved and lifted nose profile you wanted so much is now yours. But the work doesn't stop here! If surgical intervention is 50% of the success, a correct healing process is the remaining 50%. The two most fundamental building blocks of healing are nutrition and sleep patterns.
When discharging our patients from our clinic in Adana, we give them a very detailed guide on edema management (reducing swelling). Because especially in operations where the nasal tip is highly refined like the Barbie nose, fluid accumulation (edema) at the nasal tip can be stubborn.
Post-Operative Sleep Position: For the first 2 weeks, gravity is your closest friend. You should sleep on your back with your head at least 30-45 degrees above your heart (with two pillows). This position prevents blood from pooling in the head area and ensures that the swelling on your face is less in the mornings. Sleeping turning to the right or left can cause asymmetric edema on that side of the nose.
What to Consume (Edema Relievers)What to Avoid (Edema Causers)
Plenty of Water (At least 2.5 - 3 liters a day)Salt and processed foods with excessive sodium
Pineapple, Papaya (Contains Bromelain enzyme)Alcohol and excessive caffeine
Green leafy vegetables, Vitamin CExcessively spicy and hot foods
Soft protein sources (yogurt, fish)Hard foods that are very difficult to chew
The Miraculous Effect of Pineapple: You should definitely add pineapple to your nutrition list. The 'bromelain' enzyme found in pineapple is a natural edema and bruise reliever. Whether you consume it as fresh fruit or use bromelain tablets by consulting your doctor; you will be surprised by its effect on your healing speed.
Pay Attention to Chewing: In the first week, to reduce the load on your nose, you should stay away from hard foods that are difficult to chew (e.g., tough meat, apples, nuts). The chewing motion moves your upper jaw and therefore your newly shaped nasal base. Instead, soups, purees, yogurt, and soft boiled vegetables should be preferred.
Patience is the key word in the healing process. You may see your nose more swollen when you wake up in the morning and more subsided in the evenings. These fluctuations are completely normal in the first months. By following the instructions given by our clinic, and paying attention to your nutrition and sleep, you will achieve that flawless Barbie nose profile of your dreams in the healthiest way.
